Q: I’m an adult and “I can’t dance,” do you have any classes for me?
A: Our specialty is bringing out the dancer in every body. We believe there is something for everyone at Sol Vida no matter what level you are. We recognize that everyone is at a different place in their lives—maybe you’re concerned about your body image, or class size…we pride ourselves on being a place of non-judgment and inclusivity, many of our classes don’t even use mirrors. If you’re concerned about finding the right class for yourself, please contact us and we will point you in the greatest direction.
Q: What should I wear and bring to class?
A: Just wear something that you feel comfortable moving in. Some ideas include: stretch/yoga pants, form fitting clothing, tank top/leotard. The majority of our classes are done with bare feet. For Zumba and Hip Hop classes you can wear jazz sneakers or street shoes (preferably no black soles). Feel free to wear a lappa (scarf/fabric) around your waist for any type of African dance class. Please remember a WATER BOTTLE.
Q: Do I have to pre-register for dance classes?
A: Yes, for all Youth Programs. No, for our Teen/Adult Drop-ins.
Q: I’m not sure that my child is going to be into this class, can we check it out first?
A: Yes, you can. Trial classes are $15. Sometimes our classes are full and we cannot guarantee that your child will be able to do a trial if you just drop in. To ensure participation, please contact us ahead of time.
Q: Where can I park?
A: There is ample street parking available on Colfax, Eudora (South Side of Colfax), and Elm (North Side of Colfax) streets. During the day you can park in the alley behind The Cork House. In the evening, you may park directly behind Geez Louise and Sol Vida if there are open spaces.
